Secure, modular architecture
RTE SMS is made up of NT services and therefore does not require any log-in, an essential condition in a secure architecture. As the active components are NT services, they use NT’s administrative alerts and event observer. Whether these services are installed on a dedicated machine or on the server itself, top-level security is maintained.

Multi-site and/or multi-server architecture
RTE SMS allows for the use of one or more SMS servers, possibly in conjunction with one or more mail servers on one or more sites. This extremely open architecture allows for the use of the "Load balancing" and "Fault tolerance" functions. These high performance functions are easy to implement due to the use of automatic synchronisation procedures between the various servers.
